Knut!

Yeah, the story is perilously close to its sell-by date, but it's still interesting. Is it just me, or is "authenticity" as a cultural concept starting to wear a might thin?

What was most amusing for me was the proposed death by the would-be cub-clubbers: a quick, sterile euthanizing.

But that's not exactly how it happens in nature, is it, Dieter?

A more natural, red-in-tooth-and-claw end would be to let the cub starve to death, drown it or sic some predator on it. But Herr Aktivist isn't calling for that, for some odd reason.

Anyway, the Berlin Zoo is making the right call and telling them to stick it up their umlauts.

Moral of the story?

Don't mess with cute.
