"The Voyage of Life: Manhood."

Thomas Cole is one of my favorite American painters. And while his allegorical paintings are not subtle, they are beautifully-composed and always remind you of his mastery of landscapes.

Here is "Manhood," from "The Voyage of Life" cycle.

  1. Growing up, my parents had a book on American art. Thomas Cole was a favorite. I wish I could remember where I saw another painting of his in person. It might have been in Seattle.
