Tax the rich? Sign me up.

The mega-rich have only gotten richer, and they aren't my friends.

Senator Warren has a great idea which needs to be enacted into law post-haste.

We do not object to a man, or refuse to honor him, because he has risen from the gutter; but we do refuse to honor a man who was born in a gutter and has remained there, but claims respect simply because he has succeeded in gathering a mass of gold around him.

  1. In theory? Sure.

In practice? We are talking about Elizabeth Warren, a woman worth a million or two herself.

B'rer Rabbit used to be one of my favorite stories growing up (before Disney banned him) and one lesson that stuck out to me from it is that efforts to punish can backfire on the unwary.

At a glance, Warren's proposal calls to mind what I learned about how property taxes in Chicago work. It's basically a "corrupt as hell" arrangement. What do we find? Why the politically connected were getting their properties assessed "down" while the rest were getting them marked up.

Do I believe for one minute that Jeff Bezos, owner of the Washington Post, aka Pravda for the Democrat party is going to be hit one bit by this new law? Nope. Instead I would bet you real money that this effort to "nab" the rich will instead just be a new tool for the Ahabs and Jezebels of the ruling class to steal more from the Naboths. Mark my words there's no way the Dems are going to punish in any way their friends and allies in the 1%.
