Hmmm. Do I Have Any "Pretenders" CDs?

I don't think so, but I'd better check. If there are any lurking in the collection, I now have more skeet targets.

Why? Well, has-been vocalist Chrissie Hynde announced her fervent love of tyranny and her desire to see her erstwhile countrymen slaughtered:

Between songs, the pugnacious Hynde, in a classic black T-shirt and jeans, bantered and battled with the crowd. She dedicated "You Know Who Your Friends Are" to "all you junkies and f--," gave a shout-out to the late Joe Strummer, opined that she hopes the United States loses if it goes to war with Iraq ("Bring it on! Give us what we deserve!")....

However, there weren't a lot of witnesses for this incident involving a performance by the formerly arena-worthy Pretenders, given the modest size of the Warfield Theatre.

It's quite possible the marquee for the Warfield read "Puppet Show and The Pretenders." It's not that the band's fan base is shrinking, mind you:

Marty: The last time Tap toured America, they where, uh, booked
into 10,000 seat arenas, and 15,000 seat venues, and it
seems that now, on the current tour they're being
booked into 1,200 seat arenas, 1,500 seat arenas, and uh
I was just wondering, does this mean uh...the popularity
of the group is waning?

Ian: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no...no, no, not at all.
I, I, I just think that the.. uh.. their appeal is
becoming more selective.

Be reasonably civil. Ire alloyed with reason is fine. But slagging the host gets you the banhammer.
