Former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is going to be indicted for his role in the Flint water nightmare.
Might be (?) hard to sustain from a very cursory view, but I can't be arsed to care.
Someone has to be responsible, and I am perfectly fine if the former "Tough Nerd" is one of them.
Why is the Governor of Michigan criminally liable for the cock-ups of the Flint Water Authority?
ReplyDeleteTwo misdemeanors. "Willful neglect of duty." Tic-tac, $1000 fine stuff. But provable, if a reach--he likely knew that the switch to the Flint River as the water supply went bad really, really fast. And then did nothing for too long.
DeleteBut the idea seems to be to get at his personal fortune for restitution purposes.
And then did nothing for too long.
DeleteHe's the Governor of Michigan. Where is it in the Michigan Constitution or the Michigan code that the Governor's duties include supervising the water authority in Flint? Doesn't Flint have a mayor? Doesn't Genesee County have an executive or administrator? If either of these entities was under a trusteeship, isn't there a trustee responsible?
The whole thing smells to me, but the "Tough Nerd" has gone out of his way to be obnoxious to his own party so I doubt he will have few defenders.
ReplyDeleteYep. He was pro-life until he was no longer accountable to the people who elected him, and noisily made that clear.
