Protesting in the Cul-De-Sacs.

The story is interesting, but doesn't do justice to Chief Best herself. From my view of the story--and Seattle is definitely worth watching closely--the Chief has been the sole adult at City Hall.

She could have been more forthright in challenging the lunacy of her superiors, but to what end besides her own termination?

This letter was not a surrender to the mob, but a warning about how insane City Council had become.

It was prompting the responsible citizenry to be as loud as the protesters who had extracted concessions that made mob violence more sustainable. "Citizens, you have to act."

At least, that's my read. And recall that she acted with superb efficiency when Seattle's mayor finally ordered the anarchy in CHAZ/CHOP to end.

In any event, I am not remotely as sanguine as the Hot Air writer that protests in suburbia will move the needle toward an appreciation for order.

2020 has upended many expectations of how Americans behave in a crisis. Everything is off-balance, and we are all feeling it.

Predicting where things will go from here is an errand even a fool like me would balk at.
