ReplyDeleteI don't think people are becoming less intelligent. I think we're just becoming more aware of how stupid most people have always been and it clashes with one of the fundamental myths of the American polity: that through education and opportunity, we can raise all men to "above average".
ReplyDeleteAnd, now, there's money to be made by creating panic about "The Stupids". They've always been with us. Like the Poor, they will always be with us. And there is nothing any of us can do, individually or collectively, to change that.
